Description
For women who had a sexually transmitted infection (STI), abnormal genital discharge, or a genital ulcer/sore in the past 12 months, STIPNOSEX (V773A) indicates whether the woman abstained from sex to avoid infecting her partner(s) with the STI.
Comparability
Apart from universe differences and slight variation in question wording, STIPNOSEX (V773A) is largely comparable across samples. However, while most surveys used a yes/no question format to collect this information, a minority asked an open-ended question ("What did you do?") and recorded all responses. Only samples with potential comparability issues are discussed below.
Comparability - Standard DHS
STIPNOSEX (V773A) is not a part of the standard DHS questionnaire.
