Description

HYSTOPPLACE reports the type of medical facility where the respondent had a hysterectomy performed.

The harmonized coding categories in the IPUMS-DHS variable HYSTOPPLACE were constructed to reflect the major and minor categories in the original DHS variable. The major categories are:

  • 100: Public sector facilities
  • 200: Private medical sector facilities
  • 300: Non-governmental organizations (NGOs)

The second and third digits of HYSTOPPLACE's codes distinguish between specific locations and provide additional detail, if available.
