Comparability
In addition to universe differences, question wording for DVACHEAT varies across samples. See below.
Comparability â Standard DHS
DVACHEAT is not included in the standard DHS questionnaire or domestic violence module in any phase, but it is part of a series of questions about wife beating attitudes, which are included in the domestic violence module from Phase IV forward.
The Phase IV and V questionnaires word the introductory question as follows: "Sometimes a husband is annoyed or angered by things that his wife does. In your opinion, is a husband justified in hitting or beating his wife in the following situations?"
The Phase VI and VII questionnaires remove the prefacing sentence, and simply ask, "In your opinion, is a husband justified in hitting or beating his wife in the following situations?"
