Description

ATIA2 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, the woman reported a "community health center (CHC)/rural hospital/primacy health center (PHC)" as a place to be tested for the AIDS virus. This response category is country-specific to India.

Although IPUMS-DHS integrates "public hospital" (see ATPUBHOS) and "public health center" (see ATPUBHC) across samples, ATIA2 is not included in either of these integrated variables because multiple sources are consolidated into a single category in ATIA2.

ATIA2 has no comparability problems.

Comparability - Standard DHS

An open-ended question about where one can get tested for the AIDS virus is included in Phase V forward of the standard DHS questionnaire. ATIA2 is a country-specific response not included in the standard DHS modules.
