Description

ATUG1 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, the woman reported a public dispensary/health unit as a place to be tested for the AIDS virus. This response category is country-specific to Uganda.

Although IPUMS-DHS integrates "public dispensary" (see ATPUBDRUG) across samples, ATUG1 is not included in the integrated variables because multiple sources are consolidated into a single category in ATUG1.

Comparability

ATUG1 has no comparability problems.

Comparability - Standard DHS

An open-ended question about where one can get tested for the AIDS virus is included in Phase V forward of the standard DHS questionnaire. ATUG1 is a country-specific response not included in the standard DHS modules.
