BIOMEASCODE (V420)
Code of person measuring children's height and weight

BIOMEASCODE (V420) is a 4-digit numeric variable.

Codes

9995 = No living children under 5
9996 = Inconsistent
9997 = Don't know
9998 = Missing
9999 = NIU (not in universe)

Description

For women who gave birth in the three to five years before the survey, BIOMEASCODE (V420) reports the code assigned to the person measuring their children's height and weight. Codes are sample-specific; a given numeric code in one sample refers to a different person than the same numeric code in another sample.

Using the measurer and assistant measurer (BIOASSTMEASCODE (V421)) codes, researchers can evaluate whether the quality of responses (e.g., the number of "out of range" cases) depended on the person measuring the children.

Comparability

Apart from universe differences and the use of sample-specific identification codes, BIOMEASCODE (V420) has no comparability problems.

Comparability - Standard DHS

BIOMEASCODE (V420) is included in all phases of the standard DHS recode.
