Description
For children born in the three to five years before the survey, DELPL (M15) reports where the child was delivered. Response categories vary across samples. See Comparability.

Along with universe differences, the response categories for DELPL vary across samples.
The harmonized coding categories in the IPUMS-DHS variable DELPL were constructed to reflect the major and minor categories in the original DHS variable (M15). The major categories are:
- 1000: Home
- 2000: Public sector facilities
- 3000: Private medical sector facilities
- 4000: Non-governmental organizations (NGOs)
- 5000: Religious/mission facilities
The second, third, and fourth digits of DELPL's codes distinguish between specific locations and provide detail present in only some samples.
