Codes

0 = No
1 = Yes
7 = Don't know
8 = Missing
9 = NIU (not in universe)

Description

DELUMBTRBOR_ALL indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, the respondent reported that boric powder was applied to the stump of her child's umbilical cord.

DELUMBTRBOR_ALL consists of a set of six separate variables, covering the most recent birth (DELUMBTRBOR_01) up to the sixth-most-recent birth (i.e., DELUMBTRBOR_02, DELUMBTRBOR_03, DELUMBTRBOR_04, DELUMBTRBOR_05, and DELUMBTRBOR_06) during the reference period prior to the survey. If DELUMBTRBOR_ALL is included in a data extract, all these separate variables are included in a researcher's data file.

Comparability

Apart from universe differences and slight differences in question wording, DELUMBTRBOR_ALL is largely comparable across samples.

Comparability - Standard DHS

DELUMBTRBOR_ALL is not included in any phase of the standard DHS questionnaire, but it is part of a series in the standard newborn care module for Phase VII. DELUMBTRBOR_01 is a country-specific response.
