Comparability

The units in DHS_IPUMSI_GH are harmonized across DHS and IPUMS-International samples to account for changing boundaries in the major administrative level of geography. The time span for DHS samples is 1993 to 2014 and corresponds to the census samples from 1984 to 2010 in IPUMS-International.

The Ghana 1988 DHS sample is excluded from DHS_IPUMSI_GH due to inconsistent boundaries and geographic units. The 1988 IPUMS-DHS sample combines Northern, Upper East, and Upper West regions, while later IPUMS-DHS samples and IPUMS-International samples separate these regions.
