Description

DIATRWTLOSS indicates whether the woman respondent said, in response to an open-ended question, that weight loss indicated a child sick with diarrhea should be taken to a health facility or health worker for treatment. This response did not appear on the survey form, but rather was constructed from written-in "other" responses.

Comparability

DIATRWTLOSS has no comparability problems.

Comparability - Standard DHS

DIATRWTLOSS is incorporated in the standard DHS questionnaire for Phase 3, through a variable for country-specific responses about signs of diarrheal illness indicating that the child should be taken to a health facility.
