DISTRICT is a 3-digit variable.

Description

DISTRICT (SDIST) is the geographic district where the person's household is located. This variable is country- and sample-specific. A district with a given numeric code in one sample for a country does not cover the same geographic area in a second sample for that country, even if the districts have the same numeric code.

Comparability

Apart from universe differences, DISTRICT has no comparability problems.

However, DISTRICT is sample-specific, and the areas defined by DISTRICT may change over time within a country.
