Description

For women who were randomly selected and interviewed for the domestic violence module and had experienced physical or sexual abuse, DVHCLERGY (D119XF) indicates whether they sought help from a religious leader to stop that abuse.

Comparability

Along with universe differences and slight variations in response category wording, differences resulting from the question wording for the variable DVHANY (D119Y) may limit the comparability of DVHCLERGY (D119XF) across samples. In effect, while most samples ask if the woman has "ever" sought help from a religious leader to stop such abuse, some samples ask if the woman sought help from a religious leader to stop such abuse within "the past year."
