DVHPSYCH indicates whether the woman sought psychological support or counselling, after she was forced to have sexual intercourse or perform sexual acts or experienced physical abuse.

DVHPSYCH is a country-specific variable, and it is not included in any phase of the standard DHS questionnaire or standard domestic violence module.
Universe
- South Africa 1998: Women age 15-49 who have ever sought help for beatings or other mistreatment.
- Uganda 2016: Women age 15-49 who were selected and interviewed for the domestic violence module, and who have ever been forced to have sexual intercourse or perform other sexual acts by someone other than a husband/partner.
