Comparability

Apart from universe differences, DVTOLD (D128) is largely comparable across samples. Only samples with potential comparability issues are discussed below.

Comparability - Standard DHS

DVTOLD (D128) is not included in the standard DHS questionnaire for any phase, but it is based on a question included in phase V, VI, and VII of the standard domestic violence module.

Comparability — Angola [top]

The 2015 Angola survey includes only women who sought help for violence, instead of women who did not seek help.

Comparability — Zimbabwe [top]

The Zimbabwe 2005 survey includes women who have experienced emotional violence and did not seek help in this variable. This discrepancy could make the amount of women excluded from the universe larger than for other samples.

The 2010 and 2015 Zimbabwe surveys do not share Zimbabwe 2005's comparability issue.
