Description

ETHNICITYNG (V131NG) is a variable specific to Nigeria that reports responses to a question about the woman's ethnic group or native language.

Comparability

Apart from universe differences and slight differences in question wording, ETHNICITYNG (V131NG) is largely comparable across samples.

While many DHS surveys listed response categories for the interviewer to mark for their ethnicity question, the questionnaires for Nigeria 1999, 2003, 2008, and 2013 included only the question ("What is your ethnic group?") and a blank space for the interviewer to fill in.
