Description

FCPLACEDAU reports the type of place where the daughter's circumcision was performed.

The related variable FCPLACE reports where the woman respondent's own circumcision was performed.

Comparability

Along with universe differences, FCPLACEDAU differs across samples in response categories. To increase comparability across samples, IPUMS-DHS uses composite coding for this variable. A first digit of "1" indicates a home setting; a first digit of "2" indicates a healthcare setting; a first digit of "3" indicates some other setting; and the second digit provides additional detail (e.g., "12" for "friend or relative's home").

Comparability - Standard DHS

FCPLACEDAU is a country-specific variable not included in the standard DHS questionnaire or in any of the three female circumcision modules.
