Description

For women currently using the DMPA-SC/Sayana press injectable contraceptive, FPINJWHO (V3A12) indicates whether the injection was self-administered or done by a health care worker last time.

Comparability

Apart from slight differences in response categories, FPINJWHO (V3A12) is comparable across samples. Most surveys only distinguished between self-administration and administration by a health care professional. Some surveys identified the type of health care professional (e.g., community health worker vs. other health care provider), and that detail is preserved in the second digit of the integrated variable using composite coding.

Comparability - Standard DHS

FPINJWHO (V3A12) was introduced as a standard variable in DHS Phase 8.
