Description

For women who are not currently using a contraceptive method, FPNONJO3 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, they reported a government health center as a source of family planning. This response category is country-specific to Jordan.

Some samples in the "FPNON" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

FPNONJO3 is combined with FPNONJO4 (government MCH) in FPNONPUBHC (all public health centers) for the 2002, 2007, 2012, and 2017 Jordan samples. IPUMS-DHS users interested in using FPNONJO3 are encouraged to review FPNONPUBHC for a more comprehensive response category.

Comparability

FPNONJO3 has no comparability problems.

Comparability - Standard DHS

An open-ended question about where family planning can be obtained for women not currently using a method is included in Phase IV forward of the standard DHS questionnaire.

Although FPNONJO3 is a country-specific response, it is combined with other responses in FPNONPUBHC, a standard variable that encompasses all public health centers as potential sources of family planning. IPUMS-DHS users are encouraged to review the Description tab of FPNONJO3 or the Comparability Tab of FPNONPUBHC for more information on the specific categories combined for the Jordan samples.
