GENERAL
Ethiopia

Comparability

Along with universe differences, there are differences in question wording for FSSEEKTREAT. For most samples, FSSEEKTREAT is based on the question "Have you sought treatment for this condition?," following a series of questions about the precipitating event for fistula. For some samples, the question asks specifically (and more narrowly) about treatment for obstetric fistula.

Comparability - Standard DHS

FSSEEKTREAT is not included in the standard DHS questionnaire, but the DHS standard module on fistula includes the question "Have you sought treatment for this condition?"

Comparability — Ethiopia [top]

Unlike most other samples, the 2005 Ethiopian survey asks, "Have you ever been treated for obstetric fistula?" This excludes treatment for fistula derived from other causes, such as sexual assault.
