Description

GADIRRITABLE2WK (MTH6) reports how often the woman became easily annoyed or irritable in the past two weeks. Responses range from 0 for “Never,” to 1 for “Rarely,” to 2 for "Often,” to 3 for “Always.”

GADIRRITABLE2WK (MTH6) is one in a series of seven variables used to measure whether the person was experiencing generalized anxiety disorder. According to The DHS Program:

Variables MTH1 to MTH7 are used to calculate the GAD score which is essentially an index of anxiety. Anxiety is a mental health disorder that affects everyday situations through constant worrying, nervousness, and feelings that could interfere with the person’s daily activities, relationships, or work

The summary variable with the GAD score, GADSCORE (MTH24), has values ranging from 0 (responses of “never” for all seven constituent variables) to 21 (responses of “always” for all seven constituent variables). Response of “refuse to answer” (code 7) and “don’t know” (code 8) are excluded from the calculation.
