Description

GEO_GN1999 (V101_GN1999) indicates the region of Guinea where the respondent was interviewed. DHS units in the 1999 Guinea survey are equivalent to natural regions, with the capital remaining an autonomous region.

Other sample years have their own sample-specific geography variables. There are also integrated variables, GEO_GN1999_2018, GEO_GN2005_2018, and GEOALT_GN1999_2012, that provide spatially consistent units over time. The Guinea 1999 sample is excluded from GEO_GN2005_2018 due to inconsistent boundaries.
