Description

GEO_PH2003_2022 indicates the region of the Philippines where the respondent was interviewed. The variable is integrated to yield units with consistent boundaries across samples.

Labels identify the modern geographic units (regions) contained in each integrated region. Each sample also has its own non-integrated geography variable. The variable GEO_PH1993_1998 reports harmonized administrative regions for the 1993 and 1998 samples with different boundaries.

Comparability

The Philippines had 17 regions in each of the samples integrated in this variable. Region Region XI - Davao and Region XII – SOCCSKARGEN are combined due to a boundary change between the 2017 and 2022 samples.

The 1993 and 1998 samples are excluded from GEO_PH2003_2022 due to incompatible boundaries.
