HCRW3 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, the woman reported she has sought medical help at a private polyclinic. This variable is country-specific to Rwanda.

Some samples in the "HC" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

HCRW3 is combined with HCRW4 (private clinic) in HCPRIVHOS (all private hospitals and clinics) for the 2014 Rwanda sample. IPUMS DHS users interested in using HCRW3 are encouraged to reviewer HCPRIVHOS for a more comprehensive response category.
