Comparability
In addition to slight differences in question wording, response categories for INSHHTYP varies across samples. To maximize comparability, IPUMS DHS uses composite coding, with the first digit identifying broad categories (e.g., first digit of "1" for Mutual/community organization"), while the second digit provides additional detail (e.g., code "11" for "Community health fund"), if available.
