Comparability

Along with universe differences, the responses categories for MARREL vary across samples. To maximize comparability, IPUMS-DHS uses a composite coding system in which broad categories share a common first digit. The meaning of "other" in a given sample depends on the categories specified for that survey. For the question wording and response categories appearing on the questionnaire for surveys of interest, consult the Survey Text tab.
