Description

MLSRCNEWS indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, the respondent reported seeing a malaria message in a newspaper or magazine.

Comparability - Standard DHS

Prior to Phase 8, MLSRCNEWS is a country-specific variable not included in the standard DHS questionnaire. In Phase 8, this variable has the standard name ML501D and refers to malaria messages heard in the past 6 months.

The 2010 Burundi survey asks where the respondent has heard that insecticide treated nets protect against malaria.

Comparability — Uganda [top]

The 2009 Uganda survey reports whether the respondent saw a message about malaria in
"newspaper/brochure".
