Description

NOSEXOTHWF (V633B) indicates whether the woman believes a wife is justified in refusing to have sex with her husband if she knows he has sex with other women.

In Phase IV, the question wording was, "Husbands and wives do not always agree on everything. Please tell me if you think a wife is justified in refusing to have sex with her husband when: She knows her husband has sex with other women?" Beginning in Phase V, the question wording changed slightly, but not substantively, to "Husbands and wives do not always agree on everything. Is a wife justified in refusing to have sex with her husband when she knows her husband has sex with other women?"

In Phases IV through VI of the standard questionnaire, a footnote to this question says, "In polygynous societies, the phrase 'other women' should be replaced by the phrase 'women other than his wives.'" Users should consult the Survey Text tab for exact question wording.
