Codes and Frequencies
PREVREGIONNP (V105ANP) indicates the province of Nepal where the respondent lived just before moving to her current place of residence. Note that the response codes may have only numeric names for the provinces (e.g., Province 1). In September 2015, Nepal formed 7 provinces; these were initially given numeric names, but the numbers refer to clearly demarcated locations. The labels in PREVREGIONNP will be updated as more provinces receive official names.
The related variable PREVDISTNP indicates the district of Nepal where the respondent lived just before moving to her current place of residence.
PREVREGIONNP (V105ANP) is a country-specific variable for Nepal that collects information about the region where the woman previously lived. PREVREGIONNP has no comparability issues.
Comparability - Standard DHS
PREVREGIONNP (V105ANP) has country-specific codes, but the general question about previous region of residence is included in the standard DHS questionnaire beginning in Phase VII.
- Nepal 2016: Women age 15-49 who were not visitors to the household and who had not lived "always" in the region where they were interviewed.
