For women who had symptoms of a sexually transmitted infection in the past 12 months, STIADBJ8 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, they reported seeking advice or treatment from a "social center" for this problem. This response category is country-specific to Benin.

Apart from slight universe differences, STIADBJ8 has no comparability problems.
Comparability - Standard DHS
An open-ended question about where the woman received advice/treatment for an STI is included in Phases III, V and VI forward of the standard DHS questionnaire. STIADBJ8 is a country-specific response not included in the standard DHS module.
Universe
- Benin 1996: Women age 15-49 who have ever had sex and who had symptoms of a sexually transmitted infection for which they sought treatment in the last 12 months.
- Benin 2006: Women age 15-49 who have ever had sex and who had symptoms of sexually transmitted infection in the last 12 months.
