Description

For women who had symptoms of a sexually transmitted infection in the past 12 months, STIADHPDISP indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, they reported seeking advice or treatment from a health post or dispensary for this problem.

Comparability

Along with universe differences, STIADHPDISP varies slightly in question wording. Most commonly, this response category is organized under a "Public Sector" header and is worded as "health post/dispensary." IPUMS-DHS users are encouraged to review the Survey Text tab for countries of interest.

Comparability - Standard DHS

STIADHPDISP is included only in Phase III of the Standard DHS questionnaire. Although samples in later phases include "health post" and "dispensary" as potential response options, these two answers are separated and included as distinct responses. STIADHPDISP includes only surveys that combine "health post" and "dispensary" into one response category.
