SX1STPARELAGE (V831) is included in Phase V of the standard DHS questionnaire.
Comparability — India [top]
The India 2005 survey asks first whether the woman knows her first sex partner's age. If she does not, she is then asked if the person was 10 or more years older than her (in contrast to other surveys that ask whether the partner was younger, about the same age, or older). For the response category "10 or more years older" the responses come from both questions. For all other response categories, the responses only come from women who knew their partner's age.
