TOCIGIND indicates whether the respondent smokes industrial cigarettes. This may refer to consumption of mass-produced cigarettes with brand names, rather than, for example, hand-rolled cigarettes.

Comparability

TOCIGIND has no comparability problems.

Comparability - Standard DHS

Questions involving tobacco use are included in the standard DHS questionnaire beginning in Phase IV. TOCIGIND is a country-specific variable, and it is not included in any phase of the standard DHS questionnaire.
