Description

TRIPSAWAYR (V167) reports the number of times the respondent has been away from home or from her home community for one or more nights in the last 12 months.

Comparability - Standard DHS

TRIPSAWAYR (V167) is included in the standard DHS questionnaire beginning in Phase V, although it may be deleted from the questionnaire in countries with very low HIV prevalence.

In Phase V, the question was worded, "In the last 12 months, on how many separate occasions have you traveled away from your home community and slept away?" In Phases VI and VII, the question was worded, "In the last 12 months, how many times have you been away from home for one or more night?"
