Description
VACBCGHFR indicates whether the child's BCG vaccination (against tuberculosis) included a dated entry on health facility records, an undated entry on health facility records, or was reported by the mother. These data were gathered by the field supervisor who visited the health facility to collect relevant vaccination records. Obtaining information from the health facility was intended to complement the vaccination information based on the child's mother's recall.
VACBCGHFR is different from VACBCG (H2), with the latter indicating whether the child received the BCG vaccination.
To identify all young children who received BCG vaccination, not just those cases where the vaccination records were obtained from a health facility, see VACBCG (H2).
Comparability
VACBCGHFR has no comparability problems.
The type, timing, and number of doses in recommended vaccination schedules have varied between nations and across years. Knowledge of the recommended regimen in the region and year of interest may be required to determine whether the child was fully vaccinated.
