Description
For women who are currently married and whose husband or partner works in a non-agricultural occupation, WKHUSPAY (V706) indicates whether the partner earns a wage or salary.
Comparability
Along with universe differences and slight differences in question wording, WKHUSPAY (V706) varies across samples in the number of response categories. To maximize comparability, IPUMS-DHS gives a common first digit of "1" to the responses "earns no wage or salary" and "is self-employed," while the second digit distinguishes between these categories when both are available.
Comparability - Standard DHS
WKHUSPAY (V706) is included in the standard DHS questionnaire for Phase I only.
