Comparability
Along with universe differences, WKTYPELAND (V740) differs across samples in the degree of detail in the question responses. Most broadly, responses distinguish between whether the respondent works on her own land, family land, someone else's land, or rented land. Some samples also include other responses that share a common first digit of "5" and are distinguished in the second digit (e.g., 51 for public land, 52 for communal land, 53 for sharecropping, 54 for marine).
