Comparability

The 2015 Angola questionnaire asks, "What is the highest class or year you attended?" In most cases, the class or year reported in YRSCHLAO corresponds with the totalyears of school attendance, rather than the years of education at the highest level achieved. However, if the highest level of education (EDUCLVLAO) is above a Licentiate degree (Master or Doctorate), YRSCHLAO reports the number of years of schooling at the level achieved.

For example, if EDUCLVLAO is "Licentiate" (code "7") and YRSCHLAO is "Year 5" (code "18"), the respondent has attended 5 years of post-secondary education. However, if EDUCLVLAO is "Master" (code "8") and YRSCHLAO is "Year 2" (code "15"), the respondent has attended 2 years of a Master's degree program, following receipt of a licentiate degree.
