GEO_BJ2017 (V101_BJ2017) reports the region of Benin where the respondent was interviewed. DHS regions in the 2017 Benin survey are equivalent to departments.

Other sample years for Benin have their own sample-specific geography variables. There is also an integrated variable, GEO_BJ1996_2017, that provides spatially consistent units over time.
