Description

GEO_DR2002 (V101_DR2002) indicates the region of Dominican Republic where the respondent was interviewed. DHS regions in the 2002 Dominican Republic survey are equivalent to regions.

Comparability

In the 1986, 1991, 1996, and 1999 surveys, the country is divided into eight regions. In 2002 and 2007, there are nine regions. In the 2013 survey, the country is divided into eight regions with different geometry than the previous surveys.
GEO_DR2002 (V101_DR2002) is a country- and sample-specific variable and has no comparability issues.
