Description
GEO_ GN1999_2018 reports the region of Guinea where the respondent was interviewed. The variable is integrated to yield units with consistent boundaries across samples.
Labels identify modern geographic units (regions) contained in each integrated region. Each sample also has its own non-integrated geography variable. All Guinea samples have greater geographic detail available in their sample-specific variables. Additional integrated variables, GEOALT_GN1999_2012 and GEO_GN2005_2018, contain greater geographic detail as well.

Comparability
Guinea had 5 natural regions in 1999 that later split into 8 regions in the 2005, 2012, and 2018 samples:
- Central Guinea split into Labe, Mamou, and part of Boke
- Forest Guinea split into Nzerekore and part of Faranah
- Lower Guinea split into Kindia and part of Boke
- Upper Guinea split into Kankan and part of Faranah
The Conakry region remained consistent in boundaries across samples. For spatially consistent boundaries, GEO_GN1999_2018 groups the regions:
- Faranah, Kankan, N'Zerekore with Upper Guinea and Lower Guinea
- Boke, Kindia, Labe, and Mamou with Central Guinea and Lower Guinea
- Boundaries of Conakry remained consistent through time

- Guinea 1999: All women age 15-49.
- Guinea 2005: All women age 15-49.
- Guinea 2012: All women age 15-49.
- Guinea 2018: All women age 15-49.
