Description

GEO_ GT1987_2015 indicates the region of Guatemala where the respondent was interviewed. The variable is integrated to yield units with consistent boundaries across samples.

Labels identify the modern geographic units (departments) contained in each integrated region. Each sample also has its own non-integrated geography variable. Detailed geography for the 2015 sample can be found in the GEOALT_GT2015 variable.

Comparability

In the 1987 sample, the Metropolitan region is named Guatemala. The Peten region was excluded from the survey in 1987 and 1995.
