Description

GEO_SN2015_2016 indicates the region of Senegal where the respondent was interviewed. DHS regions in the 2015-2016 Senegal survey are equivalent to regions. The variable includes two time periods because both the 2015 and 2016 surveys need to be combined to produce regionally representative estimates. Users interested in using surveys from just one of these years should use GEO_SN2015 or GEO_SN2016.

Each sample also has its own year-specific geography variable. There are also two integrated variables, GEO_SN1986_2023 and GEO_SN2005_2023, that provide spatially consistent units over different time periods.

Comparability

Use the 14 regions from GEO_SN2015_2016 or GEO_SN2012_2014 if you are combining 2012-2014 and 2015-2016 surveys.
