Description

GEO_TD2004 (V101_TD2004) reports the region of Chad where the respondent was interviewed. DHS regions in the 2004 Chad survey are equivalent to groups of regions labeled as zones.

Other sample years have their own sample-specific geography variables. There is also an integrated variable, GEO_TD2004_2014, that provides spatially consistent units over time.

Comparability

Regions in GEO_TD2004 are grouped into zones. Below are the Zones and the corresponding regions from the published report.

• Zone 1: N'Djaména
• Zone 2: Lac, Kanem, Borkou-Ennedi-Tibesti
• Zone 3: Batha, Guera, Salamat
• Zone 4: Wadi Fira, Quaddai
• Zone 5: Hadjer Lamis, Chari Baguirmi
• Zone 6: Mayo Kebi Est, Mayo Kebi Ouest
• Zone 7: Logone Occidental, Logone Oriental, Tandjilé
• Zone 8: Moen Chari, Mandoul

GEO_TD2004, like other V101 variables, is a geographic variable added during processing of the DHS data. V101 is included in all Phases of the DHS.
