Description

GEO_TG1998 (V101_TG1998) reports the region of Togo where the respondent was interviewed. DHS units in the 1998 Togo survey are equivalent to regions, which are administrative areas divided into prefectures.

Other sample years have their own sample-specific geography variables for Togo. There is also an integrated variable, GEO_TG1988_2013, that provides spatially consistent units for Togo over time.

GEO_TG1998 (V101_TG1998) is a country- and sample-specific variable and has no comparability issues.

Comparability - Standard DHS

GEO_TG1998, like other V101 variables, is a geographic variable added during processing of the DHS data. V101 (and the equivalent variables of HV024 for household members and MV101 for men) are included in all Phases of the DHS.
