Description
AADHAARDCARD indicates whether the person has an Aadhaar card, which is issued by the Indian government to uniquely identify each person. The Aadhaar card serves as proof of identity anywhere in India. The program links biometric data (photograph, iris scan, fingerprints), demographic information (e.g., date of birth, sex), and residential address, stores this information in a centralized database, and issues a 12-digit unique identity number to each person covered. Participation in the program is voluntary, but the card may be required for some purposes, such as receiving government social welfare benefits.
