Description
KIDBIRTHDAY (B17) reports the day of the month of the child's birth, according to the Gregorian calendar.
Comparability
Apart from universe differences, KIDBIRTHDAY (B17) has no comparability problems.
While all samples in KIDBIRTHDAY use the Gregorian calendar, certain countries use country-specific calendars. These countries (noted below) are excluded from KIDBIRTHDAY but are included in country-specific variables.
- Ethiopia uses the Ethiopian calendar: KIDBIRTHDAY_ET
- Nepal uses the Vikram Samvat: KIDBIRTHDAY_NP
KIDBIRTHDAY (B17) is included in Phase VII forward of the standard DHS questionnaire.
