Description

ATSZ3 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, the female respondent reported some other mission health facility as a place to be tested for the AIDS virus. The meaning of "other" must be interpreted relative to the specific categories included in a particular sample.
This response category is country-specific to Eswatini/Swaziland.

Some samples in the "AT" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

ATSZ3 is combined with ATSZ1 (mission hospital) and ATSZ2 (mission clinic) in ATPRIVMIS (all religious/faith-based health facilities) for the 2006 Eswatini/Swaziland sample. IPUMS-DHS users interested in using ATS3 are encouraged to review ATPRIVMIS for a more comprehensive response category.

Comparability

ATSZ3 has no comparability problems.

Comparability - Standard DHS

An open-ended question about where one can get tested for the AIDS virus is included in Phase V forward of the standard DHS questionnaire.

Although ATSZ3 is a country-specific response not included in the standard DHS modules, it is combined with other responses in ATPRIVMIS, a standard variable that encompasses all religious/faith-based health facilities as potential sources for an AIDS test. IPUMS-DHS users are encouraged to review the Description tab of ATSZ3 or the Comparability tab of ATPRIVMIS for more information on the specific categories combined for the Eswatini/Swaziland sample.
