Description

GEO_JO1990_2023 (which excludes the 1997 and 2002 Jordan samples) reports the region of Jordan where the respondent was interviewed. These regions are equivalent to groups of governorates and have consistent boundaries across samples.

Each sample year for Jordan has its own sample-specific geography variable. Other integrated variables for Jordan that provide spatially consistent units over time include GEO_JO1997_2023 (with three broad regions identified) and GEO_JO2007_2023 (with individual governorates identified).

Comparability

GEO_JO1990_2023 does not include the 1997 and 2002 samples because those two samples provide very broad boundaries that differ from the identified regions in the most recent Jordanian samples (2007, 2009, 2012, 2017, and 2023) and in the 1990 sample.
