Description

GEO_ KE1989_2022 reports the region of Kenya where the respondent was interviewed. The variable is integrated to yield units with consistent boundaries across samples.

Labels identify the modern geographic units (provinces) contained in each integrated region. Each sample also has its own non-integrated geography variable that has greater geographic detail. The variable GEO_KE2014_2022 reports the respondent’s region using the post-2010 county boundaries.

Comparability

The Northeastern region was excluded from the 1989, 1993, and 1998 surveys.

The 2010, 2015 and 2020 samples represent Malaria endemicity regions and are excluded from GEO_KE1989_2022 due to incompatible boundaries.
