Description

For women who were randomly selected and interviewed for the domestic violence module and had experienced physical or sexual violence from their husband/partner, DVREMOTIONALHARM indicates whether the woman ever felt humiliated, stressed, lonely or experienced other emotional harm because of her husband/partner's actions.

Comparability - Standard DHS

DVREMOTIONALHARM is included in neither the standard DHS questionnaire for any phase nor in any version of the standard domestic violence module, but it is related to a series of questions regarding the impacts of husband's/partner's abuse in phase IV forward of the standard domestic violence module.

Comparability — Colombia [top]

The 2000, 2010, and 2015 Colombia surveys ask whether the woman ever "felt worthless" as a result of her husband/partner's actions.

The 2008, 2013, and 2017 Philippines surveys ask whether the woman had "depression, anxiety, anger, sleeplessness, felt irritable, confused, or had feelings of isolation" because of her husband/partner's actions.

  • Philippines 2013: Women age 15-49 who were selected and interviewed for the domestic violence module, have ever been married or lived with a man, and have ever experienced physical, sexual, or emotional violence from their husband/partner.
